St Austell Bay Badminton Club opened its doors in 1964 as the New Cornish Riviera Badminton Club in Carlyon Bay and has since gone from strength to strength, with six teams currently playing from its base at Polkyth Leisure Centre. The club are the current County Club Champions after winning the West Briton Cup last season, and play competitively in the Mid Cornwall Badminton League. There are three menβs teams, one ladies, one combination and one mixed, and it is also a social club that welcomes players of all levels, including up and coming youngsters in the junior section.</p>
<p>To celebrate its 50th year the club held a party for current and former members at Sticker Football Club on Saturday. The club is holding ladies only night for potential new members tomorrow (Thursday, September 11) at Polkyth Leisure Centre from 7pm. club chairman Lyndon Allen at the junior club night at Polkyth Leisure
Centre. To gain the awards Lydon Allen and lead coach Jeremy
Roberts developed a portfolio of work, a coaching structure, links with
schools and attended badminton and sport welfare courses. "It's
fantastic to see such an energetic club be rewarded for their continuous
hard work and support," said Mr Jones.

Lyndon Allen, chair of St Austell Bay Badminton Club, said: "This is a great opportunity for people in St Austell and the surrounding area to come and have a go at playing the sport in a social and friendly environment where all standards are welcome."
Badminton players can choose how long they spend at the lunchtime sessions.<br />
